Bison and the Lark

This HOOFDA design celebrates the soul of the Great Plains — where grasslands dance with wildflowers and bison roam. In the silhouette of the iconic North American Bison are coneflowers, prairie roses, milkweed, yucca, and basque flowers.  The Western Meadowlark — North Dakota’s state bird — sings its song of resilience. But this is more than art. It’s a reminder.  Since 1970, grassland bird populations have dropped by over 50%, with the Western Meadowlark declining 1.3% each year in North Dakota alone. This design is both a celebration and a call — to protect what’s wild, to remember what’s fading, and to honor the connection between land, animal, and heritage.  This garment carries that story. And now, so do you.
